Gary Horsman, Building & Technical Manager
Gary has worked in the arts since the age of fourteen, engaging in all aspects of the industry from production & events management, to company leadership & consultancy.
After originally working for the Grand Theatre, Leeds, then ENO (English National Opera), the last thirty years has seen Gary working in community arts, principally for two companies within the arts/voluntary sector, whilst continuing to engage in freelance arts and consultancy work for professional clients.
Gary has been associated with Chats Palace since 1980, initially in a voluntary capacity, before becoming Production Manager in 1986. He left in 2000 to take over as Executive Director of Theatre Venture, the renowned, London-based community theatre company.
Gary returned to Chats Palace, as a production management consultant in 2012, becoming Building & Technical Manager in September 2015.
Gary developed theatre lighting skills in his early days at Chats Palace, going on to design lighting for a number of professional and community productions in small to mid-scale venues, meanwhile also designing lighting productions for the Wagner Society at the Leicester de Montford; The Purcell Room, (Scarlet Opera) and the Stoke Newington Opera Cabaret (various venues 1998 to date).
Gary’s production management skills have been honed since the late 80s, initially in the field of community and disability arts, and has gone on to produce London wide, multi-venue and multi-discipline events.
