Chats Palace Digital Café: tackling digital poverty in Hackney
We’ve joined up with the Good Things Foundation, the digital inclusion charity that powers the National Digital Inclusion Network. In an exciting new collaboration for Homerton, the Chats Palace Digital Café is tackling local digital poverty, delivering a range of free services for local people to use. We’re working hard towards getting our local Elders confidently online, through free data, Device Bank refurbished equipment and digital support from our in-house Digital Officer, Rebecca Mulugeta.
Our pilot project launched in November 2024 in partnership with the Palace Club, introducing the programme with 1:1 consultations for elders who require support with their devices and administrative tasks. From January to March 2025, we will be distributing and loaning smartphones and iPads to our elders, running upskilling workshops, and helping our participants to navigate the digital world safely. From March 2025, we hope to expand the programme to more of our local community, and to provide additional drop-in sessions for anyone who needs them.
