Virtual Stage is a new Arts Council funded digital programme for Chats Palace, sitting alongside our live programme and acting as a bridge between the two while COVID19 restrictions are in place.
To launch what will be an exciting digital programme of amazing artists we present ‘A Very bR*T*SH Museum’ to kick start the programme.
Short Film Premiere
A short film produced by award-winning choreographer Seeta Patel to premiere on January 19th 2021 – 7pm GMT
‘A Very bR*T*SH Museum’, directed by Seeta Patel & Julien Kottukapally, is a new short film challenging places like the British museum in terms of their role in looted history.
Using dance, projections and animations, the film comments on the ongoing discussions around museums returning looted artefacts and explores the complex relationships it leaves society with in the world today. It also aims to question the legacy of colonialism and imperialism upheld by arts institutions.
The project received a micro-commission from Chats Palace, further support from Kalasangam and The Place, and raised over £1,500 in crowdfunding in December 2020.
Aftershow Zoom Q&A
This premiere will be followed by a Q&A with the creative team (Seeta Patel, Julien Kottukapally, Isaac Ouro-Gnao, & Andy Craven-Griffiths) as well as art-historian and activist Alice Proctor. The panel will be chaired by journalist Bidisha Mamata.
Places are limited to 100 for the ZOOM Q&A.
