Journey A: Shadow Puppet Workshop/Drag Queen Story Hour (suitable for 4 – 8 years)

Journey A: This ticket is perfect for people with children aged 4 – 8 and will give you entry into our 11am Shadow Puppet workshop & 12.15pm Drag Queen Story Hour storytelling session (plus a whole host of other drop in crafty activities).
Shadow Puppet Workshop (11am – 12noon)
Join in this shadow puppetry master class and create your own royal scene to take away with you. Craft castles, crowns and a series of coronation delights and learn how to make your own shadow screen to bring your puppets to life. Each participant will finish the workshop with their own mini shadow puppet theatre, complete with a series of handmade puppets following the coronation theme. All materials will be provided.
Amie Taylor is a writer, theatre maker, storyteller, shadow puppet maker and drama teacher. They have 15 years experience of working with young people and in schools, teaching drama, arts, creative writing and storytelling. They are a passionate advocate for all equality and equity, but focus on LGBTQ+ education specifically, as being LGBTQ+ themselves, they understand the difference this makes to the world. Amie also writes books, The Big Book of LGBTQ+ Activities was published in 2020 by Jessica Kingsley Publishers (JKP).
Drag Queen Story Hour UK (12.15pm -1.15pm)
Aida H Dee The Storytime Drag Queen will be reading you some fabulous stories in an exciting storytime show, just for us!
Aida is a patron of Autistic Inclusive Meets London, a professional author, a five star Edinburgh Fringe act, has been featured on Forbes Magazine for being an activist for neurodivergence, and has recently been nominated Top 5 Local Leader Of The Year by PinkNews. This event is part of our Alternative Coronation Celebration, taking place on 6th May. We’re marking the King’s Coronation in style by throwing a big neighbourhood party, full of family-friendly activities run by artists from the queer community. Come along, join in the festivities and celebrate yourselves for who you truly are: we all deserve a crown.
This will be a safe space for everyone to come together and celebrate the Coronation. Whatever shape your family comes in, we welcome you all.
This ticket gives you entry to two events: the Shadow Puppet Workshop at 11.00am plus Drag Queen Story Hour at 12.15pm.
All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
