Nothing on Earth
Thu 30 Mar 2023 : 7:30 pm£10 – £12
Pursued by a Bear present
Nothing on Earth by Anna Reynolds
There’s a room in the care home that no one goes into.
Jade, who had to relinquish her high-flying life as cabin crew and now works as a carer, steps across the threshold.
Voices from adventure’s golden age surround her: women who flew Spitfires, crossed continents in pursuit of Chairman Mao, parachuted out of rickety hot air balloons, shouted ‘No Surrender’ into the mouths of the guns.
Long forgotten stories tell themselves. The voices of pioneering women ring around the room.
What’s going on?
It’s a fantastical, heart-catching, time-travelling tale of female experiences and women taking flight.
Tickets £10 ADV/£12 OTD
Duration: 2 hours including an interval of 15 minutes

ABOUT THE COMPANY: Pursued by a Bear
Pursued by a Bear is an award-winning theatre and digital film producer. We are Company in Residence at Trestle Arts Base in St Albans. We produce new writing by some of the UK’s most distinctive voices. Much of our work is global in setting and scope (our last four productions were set variously in India, Russia, Africa and between the UK and the USA). Our mission at Pursued by a Bear is to champion women’s playwrighting and we are thrilled to be putting the bold and compelling vision of Anna Reynolds (above) centre stage in 2023.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Nothing on Earth is inspired by the 2016 HLF-funded Hertfordshire’s Hidden Heroine’s project. The script was tried out in 2018 and then received extensive R&D in Autumn 2019 in partnership with Trestle, Hertford Theatre, Dacorum Borough Council, Pump House Watford and the School of Creative Arts and the Heritage Hub at the University of Hertfordshire, funded by Arts Council England. In 2020, with ACE support, we created Nothing on Earth Shorts, six digital films of new short plays by Anna Reynolds, accompanied by a blog and e-book, developing the play’s themes and introducing to our audiences new heroines whose stories will be shared in Nothing on Earth 2023.
